The ITA is proud to work with some of the world’s leading experts in the field of anti-doping education. The Education Expert Group is composed of five members who represent five continents and have a wealth of combined experience in anti-doping and safe sport.
The Expert Group acts as an external advisory body to the ITA, providing important insight on how to build and deliver effective and comprehensive anti-doping education programs.

The ITA Tokyo 2020 pre-Games Expert Group is responsible for reviewing available anti-doping information on athletes who are likely to compete in the Games and issues testing recommendations to ensure that effective testing is conducted globally through a coordinated effort. Leading the Pre-Games Expert Group and serving as its secretariat, the ITA is intensely collaborating with the other expert group members – five of whom are International Federation delegates appointed in consultation with the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), and five are National Anti-Doping Organisation delegates, appointed in consultation with the Institute of National Anti-Doping Organisations (iNADO). Together, they form a diverse and independent body spanning across five continents and representing large, medium and small federations with expert knowledge on individual and team sports.

The ITA Beijing 2022 pre-Games Expert Group is responsible for reviewing available anti-doping information on athletes who are likely to compete in the Olympic Winter Games and issues testing recommendations to ensure that effective testing is conducted globally through a coordinated effort.

In 2020, the ITA has developed an International Doping Control Officer (IDCO) Training & Certification Program to ensure harmonised and quality testing around the globe. To complement this initiative, the ITA has decided to rally internationally-recognised experts in the field of testing and sample collection to constantly raise the existing standards and expertise as well as to find the best solutions to issues that arise from time to time during the sample collection process. Promoting consistency and quality in the training of international doping control officers will help protect athletes and offer them increased confidence in the global anti-doping system.
