Throughout the event, athletes and their support personnel had the opportunity to visit the ITA human anti-doping education booth, where they could test their knowledge, play educational games, ask questions and explore the tools and resources available to help them navigate their anti-doping rights and responsibilities with confidence.
A key highlight was a 30-minute interactive education presentation designed specifically for young athletes and their support personnel. Participants had the chance to learn about important topics including strict liability, Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs), the purpose and structure of the Prohibited List, how to check whether medications are permitted, the risks associated with supplement use and when a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) may be required. The session encouraged discussion and active participation, with athletes asking thoughtful questions about how to protect their health, their careers and the integrity of sport. Coaches and support personnel also welcomed the opportunity. As Adriana noted, many highlighted how valuable it is for young athletes to receive human anti-doping education early in their sporting journey, reinforcing the importance of continuing these activities at youth equestrian events.
On the first day of the event, Adriana was joined by Carrie O’Keeffe, Anti-Doping Education Executive of Sport Ireland. Together, ITA and Sport Ireland provided practical, engaging and relevant clean sport information, helping young athletes better understand their rights and responsibilities as they progress in their sporting careers.
By bringing clean sport education directly to athletes at major youth events, the ITA continues to empower the next generation of athletes to make informed decisions and compete with confidence and integrity.
