The International Go Federation (IGF), founded on 18 March 1982 with 29 member nations, is the global governing body for the game of Go. The sport began spreading internationally in the early 20th century, with organised development in Europe marked by the establishment of the European Go Federation in 1959.
Today, the IGF has 74 members across all continents and represents more than 40 million players worldwide. It is a founding member of the International Mind Sports Association and has been a full member of SportAccord since 2006.
