The ITA reports that weightlifter Rustam Djangabaev has been sanctioned with an eight-year period of ineligibility

The International Testing Agency (ITA), on behalf of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), reports that Rustam Djangabaev, a weightlifter from Uzbekistan, has been sanctioned with an eight-year period of ineligibility after testing positive for metabolites of the prohibited substance ostarine.

¹ The information about the Provisional Suspension was publicly disclosed by the ITA shortly after its imposition. (https://ita.sport/sanction/international-weightlifting-federation-iwf/)
² When an athlete does not challenge the assertion of an ADRV and does not request a hearing, anti-doping organisations have the possibility to issue a written decision sanctioning the athlete and imposing the applicable consequences without having to refer the case to a hearing panel. This is provided in articles 8.3.2. and 8.3.3. of the IWF Anti-Doping Rules and 8.3 of the World Anti-Doping Code.
³ For the sake of clarity, as per Article 10.7.4 of the applicable IWF ADR, both violations were considered together as a single first ADRV
⁴ The ADRVs of athletes Lyudmila Elefteriadi and Doston Yokubov have been publicly reported on ITA’s website. (https://ita.sport/sanction/international-weightlifting-federation-iwf/)
⁵ According to Article 12.3 of the IWF ADR and provisions of the IWF Olympic Qualification System, member federations can be suspended, fined and/or have other rights withdrawn (including quotas for participating in the Olympic Games) when three or more athletes, officials or athlete support personnel of the member federation are found to have committed ADRVs within a 12-month period.
