The ITA confirms that the athlete Seyed Mohammad Hosseini has agreed to the consequences imposed for his anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) under Article 2.2 of the World Triathlon Anti-Doping Rules (World Triathlon ADR).
A review of the athlete’s steroidal biological passport (ABP) by the Athlete Passport Management Unit (APMU) returned an Adverse Passport Finding (APF) for abnormalities in the values of the steroidal ABP. More particularly, the APMU unanimously confirmed that the abnormalities in the athlete’s ABP on 24 February 2020 were highly likely caused by the administration of exogenous testosterone.
The athlete did not challenge his ADRV and agreed with the consequences for his ADRV under the World Triathlon ADR as proposed by the ITA. Accordingly, the case was resolved via an acceptance of consequences.
Due to his early admission of the ADRV, the athlete was entitled to a one-year reduction of the otherwise four-year period of ineligibility imposed for an ADRV for the use of prohibited substance or a prohibited method as set forth in article 10.8.1 of the World Triathlon ADR.
The period of ineligibility is effective from 4 July 2023 until 3 July 2026 and the athlete’s individual competitive results from the date of the abnormality in his ABP, namely from 24 February 2020 onwards have been disqualified including forfeiture of medals, points and prizes.
The ITA will not comment further on this case.
