As previously announced, the ADRV is based on investigations conducted by WADA’s Intelligence and Investigations Department (WADA I&I) and by Professor Richard McLaren into allegations of systemic doping practices in Russian sport as well as Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data retrieved by WADA I&I over time. The evidence was provided by WADA I&I to the ITA for further assessment. In particular, these investigations uncovered LIMS data indicative of the presence of the banned substance ostarine in a sample provided by the athlete in 2014. Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) commonly used by athletes due to its muscle-building and performance-enhancing effects.
After being notified of the case and informed of his procedural rights, the athlete decided not to challenge the ADRV. The ITA issued a decision sanctioning him for 4-year period of ineligibility, commencing on 21 October 2024 and remaining in full force and effect until 20 October 2028 pursuant to the IBA ADR.
In addition, the athlete’s results from 28 September 2014 until the start of the athlete’s provisional suspension on 9 September 2024 have been disqualified, including the results obtained during a boxing match held on the night of 27/28 September 2014 in accordance with Articles 9 and 10.8 of the IBA ADR.
