The ITA reports that a sample collected from French fencer Ysaora Thibus has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding1 (AAF) for SARMS enobosarm (ostarine), a non-specified Prohibited Substance, according to the Prohibited List of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The sample was collected at the 2024 FIE Teams World Cup (foil) during an in-competition anti-doping control performed on 14 January 2023. The Sample Collection Authority was the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD). The sample was collected as part of an independent anti-doping program that the ITA delivers for the International Fencing Federation (FIE).
The ITA has informed the athlete, the Fédération Française d’Escrime (FEE) and the Fédération Internationale d’Escrime (FIE) of the AAF. In accordance with the FIE Anti-Doping Rules and the World Anti-doping Code, the athlete has been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter. She has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample.
In the event that the B-sample analysis is requested and confirms the result of the A-sample, the case will be considered as a confirmed anti-doping rule violation. If the B-sample analysis is not requested, the case will also go ahead as a confirmed anti-doping rule violation. The athlete will have the opportunity to present her explanations for the result.
Given that the case is underway, there will be no further comments during the ongoing proceeding.
