The ITA reports that based on an incident that occurred during an Out-Of-Competition testing mission conducted by the ITA on 6 May 2021, the ITA has charged Mr. Chumak and Mr. Mykhailo with committing Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs).
The ITA alleges that, during the abovementioned doping control, Mr. Chumak refused to provide a sample, attempted to evade and bribe the Doping Control Officers that were conducting the testing mission. The ITA also alleges that Mr. Mykhailo assisted the athlete in the wrongdoings.
Mr. Chumak has thus been charged with committing violations of Article 2.2 (Use or Attempted Use of a Prohibited Substance), Article 2.3 (Evading and Refusing Sample Collection) and Article 2.5 (Tampering or Attempted Tampering with any part of Doping Control) of the IWF Anti-Doping Rules (IWF ADR).
Mr. Mykhailo has been charged with committing violations of Article 2.5 (Tampering or Attempted Tampering with any part of Doping Control) and Article 2.9 (Complicity or Attempted complicity involving an ADRV) of the IWF ADR.
Dmytro Chumak and Matsokha Mykhailo have been informed of their respective cases and have been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter.
Should they not accept the consequences provided for under the IWF ADR, they will have the right to ask for a hearing.
Pursuant to the IWF’s delegation of its anti-doping program to the ITA, the prosecution of the cases is being handled entirely by the ITA. Given that the cases are underway, there will be no further comments during the ongoing proceeding.
