The ITA acknowledges CAS ADD decision to sanction surfer Miguel Tudela Chiozza with 16 months of ineligibility

The International Testing Agency (ITA), leading an independent anti-doping program on behalf of International Surfing Association (ISA), acknowledges the decision of the Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD) confirming that Peruvian surfer Miguel Tudela Chiozza committed an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) for the presence of a prohibited substance and sanctioning him with 16 months of ineligibility.

¹ A report from a WADA-accredited laboratory that, consistent with the International Standard for Laboratories, establishes in a sample the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites or markers or evidence of the use of a prohibited method.

² Pursuant to article 7.4.1 of the ISA anti-doping rules, an athlete has the right to ask for the lifting of the provisional suspension and provided the athlete meets specific conditions, the provisional suspension may be lifted allowing the athlete to participate in competitions pending the results management of his case. Following Mr. Tudela Chiozza’s request, his provisional suspension was temporarily lifted and he was allowed to participate in the 2024 ISA World Surfing Games, where he placed 37th. The provisional suspension was reimposed on 6 May 2024 when the ITA found that the conditions for the lifting of the provisional suspension were no longer met.
