Following the launch of the sample re-analysis program for the Olympic Games Rio 2016, the ITA previously reported that the re-analysis of a sample collected by the IOC out-of-competition on 12 August 2016 from Soslan Daurov had returned an adverse analytical finding¹ for Dehydrochloromethyltestosterone (DHCMT) metabolite.
DHCMT is a non-specified prohibited substance according to the prohibited list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and is prohibited at all times. DHCMT is a derivative of testosterone. It is a synthetically created anabolic steroid which causes rapid growth of the muscles, which in turn leads to high increases in strength performance.
Following the results management process conducted by the ITA, the ITA submitted the matter for adjudication to CAS ADD.
After considering the written submissions and evidence, on 18 September 2026, CAS ADD issued its award holding that the athlete had committed an ADRV for the presence and use of a prohibited substance in accordance with Articles 2.1/2.2 of the IOC Anti-Doping Rules applicable to the Olympic Games Rio 2016 (IOC ADR).
As a result, all competitive results obtained by Soslan Daurov at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 are disqualified including forfeiture of medals, points and prizes. This includes his 15th place finish in the men’s greco-roman -59kg wrestling competition.
Parties with a right of appeal may challenge the decision before the appeal division of CAS in accordance with article 12.2 of the IOC ADR.
The matter has been referred to United World Wrestling (UWW) to determine the applicable consequences under the UWW Anti-Doping Rules.
The ITA will not comment further on this case.
¹ A report from a WADA-accredited laboratory that, consistent with the International Standard for Laboratories, establishes in a sample the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites or markers or evidence of the use of a prohibited method.
