The World Skate Games in Italy went beyond competition — thanks to the collaboration between World Skate (WSK) and the International Testing Agency, they were a showcase of how clean sport education can be seamlessly integrated into athletes’ competition schedule to benefit athletes and their support personnel alike.
Ahead of the Games, athletes were encouraged to complete an anti-doping online course. During the event, ITA Education Ambassador Thais Cevada and WSK Anti-Doping Manager Angela Masci led the charge, hosting clean sport education activities and real-life anti-doping simulations at the ITA booth over five days during the Games.
Athletes from various disciplines – such as skateboarding slalom, speed track, inline hockey and speed road – along with their athlete support personnel engaged in interactive education sessions about how to protect their careers and health.
The WSK community received crucial reminders about the 11 Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) and the importance of checking medications and supplements, underscoring the strict liability principle in the WADA Code.
Angela Masci praised the initiative, stating, “Our partnership with the ITA is essential in keeping WSK competitions real.”
