As part of the ITA’s support in helping World Rowing deliver its anti-doping program the ITA Education team joined forces with WR to host an integrity booth during their recent World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. The booth, which included anti-doping education delivered by the ITA, and safeguarding and sports competition manipulation delivered by WR, attracted over 50 rowers and their support personnel.
World Rowing President Jean Christophe Rolland invited all athletes to the integrity booth and underlined the importance of rowing clean.
Developing anti-doping awareness, helping athletes understand how they can protect themselves from inadvertent doping, and being a point of contact to answer any anti-doping questions from rowers and their support personnel anti-doping were key objectives. Rowers and support personnel participated in clean sport activities including quizzes and games to help participants understand how to check their medications and understand what Anti-Doping Rules Violations are.
The Belgrade 2023 World Championships was a collaborative effort between WR, the Local Organising Committee and the ITA, committed to providing a helpful and enjoyable experience in clean sport for all rowers and support personnel attending the competition.
