The samples were collected as part of intelligence-led testing conducted by the ITA under its independent anti-doping program for cycling, delegated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) since January 2021.
The substance detected—Methamfetamine (D-) and its metabolites—is classified as a Non-Specified Stimulant under class S6.A of the 2025 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List, which is adopted by the UCI.
In accordance with the UCI Anti-Doping Rules, the rider has been provisionally suspended by the UCI. He has the right to request the analysis of the B samples.
While the ITA carries out independent testing and investigations on behalf of the UCI, the UCI retains responsibility for results management and the prosecution of Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs). The decision to provisionally suspend the athlete was therefore taken by the UCI.
As proceedings are ongoing, no further comments will be made at this time.
