Whereabouts information is used by anti-doping organisations (ADOs) to locate athletes for out-of-competition testing. To ensure out-of-competition testing remains unpredictable, athletes can be tested at any place, anytime, with no advance notice. This includes testing outside of an athlete’s 60-minute timeslot and during an athlete’s regular activities.
You may be tested as many times as deemed necessary by your NADO and IF. The frequency of testing depends on different factors, such as your inclusion in the Testing Pool (TP)/Registered Testing Pool (RTP), how often you compete, your performance results, etc.
Athletes have different whereabouts requirements depending on the Testing Pool which they are a part of.
Please refer to the Testing FAQ available on our website in the Athlete Hub.
Athletes have the right to challenge an apparent Whereabouts Failure by providing explanations and supporting documents to attempt to prove that they did not commit a Whereabouts Failure.
Upon receipt of the explanation, or lack thereof, a decision will be taken as to whether or not the Whereabouts Failure is to be recorded. The Athlete will receive the decision by email.
You may check out the ADAMS tutorials on the ITA’s website in the Athlete Hub.
Not as long you update your ADAMS calendar. Keeping the Athlete Central app on your smartphone or updating your whereabouts by SMS may come in handy when dealing with last-minute changes occurring in your schedule.
Whereabouts Failures are always communicated to Athletes by email and are recorded in ADAMS.
In case of a doubt, the Athlete may also reach out to his/her Whereabouts custodian.
