Susan is a former elite volleyball player for Team Peru, ranked world No. 2 libero in 2016. She has played in NCAA Division I, the Peruvian and French National Leagues, and is now completing a PhD in Sports Management in France, alongside an MBA.
She was Sports Resources Manager at the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games and has lectured across Latin America and Europe. Since 2018, she has been active in anti-doping, currently working with the Peruvian NADO on athlete representation and education. Her work connects elite sport, research, and policy to foster athlete development and clean sport.
"Sport shaped who I am; it taught me discipline, resilience and what it means to play fair. As a former elite athlete and now a researcher and educator, I’ve come to understand how important education and advocacy are in protecting the integrity of sport. In the early years of my career, I was tested many times without fully understanding the anti-doping process, the regulations or even my rights as an athlete. That experience motivated me to learn more about anti-doping, to ask questions, and to become better informed. As an ITA Education Ambassador, I now have the opportunity to provide a different experience for other athletes than I had in my early career - to share what I’ve learned, support others, and ensure that all athletes are empowered to compete clean, informed, and safe."
