The clean sport education seminar saw around 100 athletes and support personnel in attendance. Conducted at the Championships venue and led by ITA Educator Kata Utassy, the seminar underlined the importance of anti-doping education, with participants having an interactive quiz to assess their knowledge on the topic. The seminar was opened by IWF First Vice-President Ursula Papandrea and closed by IWF General Secretary José Quiñones, both emphasising the importance of clean sport in preserving the position and relevance of the Olympic Movement.
In the course of the three days, the education booth welcomed approximately 300 visitors. It offered the athletes and support personnel an interactive experience where they could test their knowledge through a range of activities. Topics included Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs), key anti-doping terminology, the doping control process, medication checking and reporting suspicious behaviour through the ITA’s REVEAL platform.
The booth also attracted several returning athletes and support personnel who were keen to challenge themselves across all the activities. Participants especially liked the hands-on way of learning and the availability of educational resources and activities in multiple languages, helping make important anti-doping information more accessible and easier to understand.
These activities are part of the long-standing collaboration between the ITA and the IWF to strengthen clean sport education in weightlifting. Through ongoing cooperation and tailored educational opportunities, both organisations work to ensure that athletes and their support personnel understand their anti-doping rights and responsibilities, are aware of the risks of doping and feel empowered to make informed decisions to protect their career, their health and their sport.
