Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 – The ITA notifies athlete Yash Kumar Chauhan of an apparent anti-doping rule violation

Metandienone is prohibited under the WADA Prohibited List as S1.1 Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS). It is prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition) and is a non-specified substance. Metandienone is a potent anabolic steroid which increases testosterone levels, causing muscle-mass growth, endurance and strength.

GW1516 is prohibited under the WADA Prohibited List as S4.4 Metabolic Modulators. It is prohibited at all times (in- and out-of-competition) and is a non-specified substance. GW1516 is a drug that activates pathways involved in fat metabolism in the body and that improves endurance performance.

Mephentermine is prohibited under the WADA Prohibited List as S6.A Non-Specified Stimulants. It is prohibited in-competition and is a non-specified stimulant. Mephentermine is a stimulant that acts on the central nervous system and may increase alertness and reduce fatigue.

The sample was collected by the ITA under the testing authority and results management authority of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) during an in-competition anti-doping control on 27 September 2026 in Nagoya, Japan.

The athlete has been informed of the case and has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect until the resolution of the matter in line with the World Anti-Doping Code and the OCA Anti-Doping Rules. This means that the athlete is prevented from competing, training, coaching, or participating in any activity, during the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

The athlete has the right to challenge the imposition of the provisional suspension before the Court of Arbitration for Sport – Anti-Doping Division (CAS ADD).

The athlete also has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample.

Given that the case is underway, there will be no further comments during the ongoing proceeding.
