The renewed agreement provides a framework for continued cooperation between the two organisations, including the coordination of testing activities, the exchange of relevant anti-doping information and intelligence, cooperation on sample collection and other anti-doping services, and the development of joint activities in areas such as education and workforce training.
The collaboration between the ITA and CHINADA has developed over several years and has supported the successful implementation of anti-doping programs at major events hosted in China, including the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 and the Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025. The two organisations have also worked in close partnership within the framework of The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, where the ITA delivered an independent anti-doping and clean sport education program in cooperation with the local organising structures and CHINADA. The ITA and CHINADA are set to cooperate closely once again later this year on the occasion of the World Aquatics Swimming Championships to be held in Beijing in December.
For the ITA, collaboration with National Anti-Doping Organisations is central to effective clean sport delivery. These partnerships combine independent international program management with strong national expertise, local operational capacity and a shared commitment to protecting athletes. In the context of major events, this model has repeatedly demonstrated its value: clear roles, trusted coordination and practical cooperation allow anti-doping programs to be implemented efficiently, consistently and credibly, in the interests of athletes and clean competition.
“Trusted clean sport programs rely on expertise, independence and cooperation,” said Benjamin Cohen, ITA Director General. “The ITA’s role is to deliver anti-doping programs independently and in full compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code, but this can only be done effectively through close coordination with trusted national and regional partners. NADOs bring local expertise, operational capacity and an essential understanding of their national sporting environments. Our renewed agreement with CHINADA reflects this shared responsibility and supports our common objective: protecting athletes and strengthening confidence in fair competition.”
Through this renewed collaboration, the ITA and CHINADA will continue to seek greater impact and efficiencies through joint activities and the coordination of anti-doping activities. The agreement also supports cooperation in intelligence and investigations, education, workforce training and the broader alignment between national and international anti-doping programs.
“CHINADA is pleased to renew its collaboration with the ITA and to continue working together in support of clean athletes,” said Li Zhiquan, Director General of CHINADA. “Major events require strong coordination, high standards and mutual trust between all anti-doping partners. This agreement will help further enhance cooperation, share expertise and contribute to the development of clean sport in China and internationally.”
The ITA currently works with a wide network of National and Regional Anti-Doping Organisations worldwide. These partnerships are designed to strengthen synergies between national and international anti-doping programs, support harmonised implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code and promote a more coordinated global approach to protecting athletes.
By renewing their collaboration, the ITA and CHINADA reaffirm that effective anti-doping work is built on practical cooperation, transparency, professionalism and a shared commitment to the rights and interests of athletes.
