The renewed agreement builds on the cooperation established in 2022, when the IGF entrusted the ITA with the independent management of its anti-doping activities. Through this extension, the ITA will continue to oversee all aspects of anti-doping operations for IGF-sanctioned events, providing athletes with a system designed to protect their rights, support clean performance and uphold a level playing field across international competition.
This includes the planning and implementation of in- and out-of-competition testing based on golf-specific risk assessments, as well as the management of the Registered Testing Pool (RTP), athlete whereabouts, the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) and Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs). The ITA will also remain responsible for results management on behalf of the IGF, including the handling of potential anti-doping rule violations and whereabouts failures, and for intelligence and investigations through its confidential reporting platform, REVEAL. Long-term sample storage and re-analysis strategies will continue to be applied as part of the program.
Education remains a core pillar of the collaboration. The ITA will continue to design and deliver education activities for IGF athletes and support personnel in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) International Standard for Education, including event-based initiatives at major IGF competitions.
In addition, the ITA’s Regulatory Compliance Unit will continue to support the IGF in ensuring that all elements of its anti-doping program remain fully aligned with the World Anti-Doping Code and related standards, including through guidance in the context of audits and corrective actions.
ITA Director General Benjamin Cohen said:
“Long-term credibility in anti-doping is built through consistency, independence and the ability to apply the rules in the same way, every time. Extending this collaboration allows the IGF to rely on a fully integrated anti-doping framework — from intelligence and testing to education and results management — that is designed to evolve with the sport and its risk profile. We look forward to continuing this work through 2028, with the same focus on rigor, transparency and athlete trust.”
IGF Director General Antony Scanlon said:
“We are delighted to extend our collaboration with the ITA until 2028. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to fair play and the highest standards of integrity in golf. With the ITA’s expertise, we can continue to protect our athletes and uphold the values of our sport across all IGF events worldwide.”
The ITA has supported golf at major international events, including the Youth Olympic Games and the Olympic Games, and will continue to do so throughout the next Olympic cycle.
