This marked the first time UWW partnered with the ITA to bring education directly into a training camp setting. On September 8 and 9, a dedicated Clean Sport booth was set up, and evening presentations were led by the ITA educator Anita Hartung. The sessions offered athletes a chance to engage with key Anti-Doping topics in a focused and approachable environment.
Lei Liang, UWW Development Manager, shared:
“This Anti-Doping education event was a success and marked our first time working with the ITA on on-site education. We chose to hold it during the camp rather than the competition period, as athletes are generally more relaxed and able to dedicate time to learning in-depth about this important topic. These are some of our best wrestlers in the world, and thanks to the collaboration with the ITA, they left the UWW Senior Worlds acclimatization camp Poreč better informed. Education on Anti-Doping protects our sport, promotes fair competition, and ensures athletes can perform at their best with confidence.”
The timing of the camp proved ideal. Athletes were more receptive and had the space to ask questions, reflect, and engage meaningfully. Many visited the booth before and after training, showing genuine curiosity and commitment to understanding the principles of Clean Sport.
This event reflects the ongoing commitment to athlete-centered education, wherever and whenever it’s needed most.
