The ITA confirms that Kristina Nad Varga has been suspended for a three-year period after testing positive for stanozolol metabolites (classified under S.1.1 anabolic androgenic steroids as per the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list). The positive sample was collected on behalf of the International Boxing Association (IBA) in the scope of an in-competition control on 19 October 2024 during the 2024 U23 European Boxing Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Kristina Nad Varga did not challenge the Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) and agreed with the consequences proposed by the ITA. Due to her early admission, the athlete is entitled to a one-year reduction in the otherwise four-year period of ineligibility usually imposed for an ADRV for the presence of stanozolol metabolites as set forth in article 10.8.1 of the IBA ADR.¹ Accordingly, this case was resolved via an acceptance of consequences pursuant to article 8.3.1 of the IBA ADR. The athlete’s period of ineligibility runs until 12 November 2027 and the competition results obtained by Kristina Nad Varga at the 2024 U23 European Boxing Championships and after the positive test of 19 October 2024 are disqualified.
