The Australian Government established Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) in 2020 to draw together the country’s existing sport integrity capabilities, knowledge and expertise, and to coordinate and develop new threat responses, including prevention, detection, investigation and enforcement programs. The creation of SIA was as a direct result of the Government Response to the Wood Review – Australia’s Sports Integrity Arrangements and Safeguarding the Integrity of Sport.
Sport Integrity Australia rolled out the National Integrity Framework to sports in March 2021. The Framework is essentially a set of rules that all members of a sport need to follow when it comes to their behaviour and conduct in sport.
By the end of 2022, the Framework and the policies under it were adopted by 81 recognised National Sporting Organisations or National Sporting Organisations for people with Disability.
