IHF JOINS ITA IN THE FIGHT AGAINST DOPING

Friday, 15 March 2019 – The International Handball Federation (IHF) is among the latest International Federations to partner with the International Testing Agency and join the rapidly growing community united in the fight against doping.

The IHF and ITA formally began their partnership on January 1, 2019. Under the agreement, the ITA will provide anti-doping services for a renewable term of two years and cover all areas of the IHF programme, with the exception of in-competition testing which will continue to be managed by the IHF in cooperation with their various local organizing committees.

The IHF joins, among other, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and the International Biathlon Union (IBU), which already started working with the ITA.

ITA Director-General, Benjamin Cohen said:

“The ITA is pleased to join forces with the IHF, working together as the next step in strengthening handball’s anti-doping programme.

“As federations and major event organisers continue to choose the ITA as their anti-doping partner, we are working hard to provide quality services and establish ourselves as a global leader in the field. We now look forward to working closely with the IHF and their athletes to ensure that handball competitions remain clean around the world.”

IHF President, Hassan Moustafa said:

“As an Olympic sport, handball players are role models for young people all over the world. It is critical that we highlight the best of our sport, and offer a level playing for all.

“Working with the ITA means that we are partnering directly with independent experts in the field of anti-doping and I look forward to working closely with their team for years to come.”
